How to connect your GoDaddy domain to a Base Camp Media Group funnel

Follow this step-by-step guide to buy a custom domain on GoDaddy and point it to your Base Camp Media Group funnel. No technical background needed—just keep this article open as you go.

  • Time required: 10–20 minutes
  • You’ll need: A GoDaddy account and your Base Camp Media Group funnel URL
  • Good to know: DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to fully update

Before you start

Make sure you have these ready before connecting your domain:

  • Access to your GoDaddy account (email and password).
  • A credit card or payment method to purchase the domain (if you don’t own one yet).
  • Your Base Camp Media Group funnel URL or project name, so you know which funnel you’re connecting.
  • A few minutes where your site can be in “transition” while DNS updates.

What you’ll do in this guide

  • Step 1 – Buy a new domain on GoDaddy.
  • Step 2 – Open your Base Camp Media Group funnel settings.
  • Step 3 – Add DNS records in GoDaddy to point the domain to Base Camp Media Group.
  • Step 4 – Connect the domain inside your funnel.
  • Step 5 – Verify the connection and test your live URL.
  • Troubleshooting – What to check if the domain is not loading.

Step 1 – Buy or use your existing domain on GoDaddy

If you already own the domain in GoDaddy, you can skip to Step 2. Otherwise, follow these steps to purchase a new domain:

  • Go to godaddy.com and log in to your account.
  • In the search bar on the homepage, type the domain name you’d like to use (for example, yourbrand.com).
  • Click Search Domain and check that your preferred name is available.
  • If it’s available, click Add to Cart or Make it yours.
  • Review the add-ons (privacy, email, etc.). You can deselect anything you don’t need right now.
  • Click Continue to Cart and choose your registration term (1 year, 2 years, etc.).
  • Enter or confirm your payment details and click Complete Purchase.
  • Once payment is processed, GoDaddy will confirm that the domain is now in your account.

Step 2 – Open your Base Camp Media Group funnel settings

Next, grab the details you’ll need from Base Camp Media Group so you know exactly what to enter in GoDaddy’s DNS settings.

  • Log in to your Base Camp Media Group account.
  • Go to the Funnels area and open the funnel you want to connect.
  • Open the funnel’s Settings panel.
  • Locate the section labeled Domain or Custom Domains.
  • Note the recommended DNS records (typically an A record and/or a CNAME record) and any target values we provide.
  • Keep this tab open—you’ll come back here after you add the records in GoDaddy.

Step 3 – Add DNS records in GoDaddy

You’ll now connect your domain by adding or editing DNS records so that your domain points to Base Camp Media Group.

Access your DNS settings in GoDaddy

  • In GoDaddy, click your name in the top-right corner and choose My Products.
  • Find the domain you want to use and click DNS or Manage DNS next to it.
  • This opens the DNS Management page, where you can see and edit your DNS records.

Add or edit the required records

Your exact records may vary slightly depending on how your Base Camp Media Group account is configured. In most cases, you’ll do the following:

  • Locate the existing A record for @ (root domain).
  • If there is an A record pointing somewhere else, you can edit it instead of creating a new one.
  • Set the Host to @.
  • Set the Points to value to the IP address or host provided in your Base Camp Media Group funnel settings.
  • Leave TTL at its default (typically 1 hour) unless instructed otherwise, then click Save.
  • Next, create or edit a CNAME record for your www subdomain:
  • • Host: www
  • • Type: CNAME
  • • Points to: the target host provided by Base Camp Media Group (for example, a branded Base Camp media host).
  • Save your changes.

Important: Avoid having multiple A or CNAME records for the same host (for example, two different A records for @). If duplicates exist, remove the ones that do not point to Base Camp Media Group.

Step 4 – Connect the domain inside Base Camp Media Group

Once your DNS records are in place, tell Base Camp Media Group which domain to use for your funnel.

  • Return to your Base Camp Media Group funnel’s Settings tab.
  • In the Domain or Custom Domains area, click Add Domain or Connect Domain.
  • Enter your full domain (for example, yourbrand.com).
  • If there is an option to choose between www.yourbrand.com and yourbrand.com, pick whichever you want as the primary URL (you can usually redirect one to the other).
  • Click Save or Connect.
  • Base Camp Media Group will check your DNS records. If everything looks right, the domain will show as Connected or Pending (propagation).

Step 5 – Verify and test your live domain

DNS changes aren’t instant. They usually start working within minutes, but can take up to 24 hours to fully propagate around the world.

  • Wait at least 10–15 minutes after saving your DNS records in GoDaddy.
  • In a new browser tab, type your domain (for example, https://yourbrand.com).
  • If you’ve just connected it, try an incognito/private window to avoid cached results.
  • You should see your Base Camp Media Group funnel load under your new domain.
  • If it doesn’t load yet, wait a bit longer and test again. DNS propagation can be gradual.

If your domain isn’t working

If you’ve waited at least 30–60 minutes and your domain still doesn’t load your funnel, review these common issues:

  • Conflicting DNS records – Make sure there is only one A record for @ and one CNAME for www, and that both point to Base Camp Media Group’s values.
  • Missing CNAME – If www.yourdomain.com works but yourdomain.com does not (or vice versa), double-check both the A and CNAME records.
  • Propagation time – DNS may take up to 24 hours worldwide. If everything is set correctly, it may just need more time.
  • Typos in the domain – Confirm that the domain in GoDaddy and the domain you entered in Base Camp Media Group match exactly (no extra spaces or characters).
  • Cached results – Try a different browser, private window, or device to test your domain.
